About Us

History
After three years of prayer and counsel from his pastor, Dr. Louis Baldwin, and God's leading in this matter, Pastor Young and his family made six trips to Tallahassee, Florida in 2005. They met with some friends and other churches in the area about planing a New Testament Church. In October of that same year, God authenticated in their hearts that He would have them serve and plant the Capital City Baptist Church. He not only gave them peace in their hearts, but godly friends who said they were willing to help with the planting of this new church.

On January 6, 2008 we held our first official service at our current location. We believe God has given us the right location to minister to the hearts and souls of many people. The city of Tallahassee is in need of a solid Independent Baptist Church that will effectively reach our people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. With that thought in mind, our burden and desire is to reach all people of all walks of life. During the infancy stages, God blessed our church with several families, for that we are thankful.

The Young Family
Sterling Young, Pastor
Sterling Young is an experienced pastor who faithfully served at Grace Baptist Church in Madison, Virginia for eleven years. He and his wife, Wanda, were saved, baptized and trained in that church before he assumed the role as pastor in 1995.

By the grace of God and under his effective leadership that small country church increased their missions giving from $1,000 to $13,000 in a short time. The church soon became known as "a country church with a world vision." God is still blessing that church today.

Over the last several years God has burdened the Youngs' hearts about the larger city of Tallahassee, Florida.
